Today we release v1.3 of the Renewables.ninja dataset. All the wind, PV and weather simulations now run until the end of 2019.
The custom point simulations and API now offer data from 2000 until 2019, giving you access to the most recent weather year.
The aggregated data packages available on the country interface now run from 1980 to 2019, giving forty years of data to work with. Aggregated time-series are available at the national level worldwide for weather data, and at national and NUTS-2 level for wind and solar simulations within Europe.
We will soon be updating the packages on the downloads page to reflect these updates.
With a 2019 update to MERRA2 out of the way, we can now turn our attention to the much bigger upgrades that are planned for the coming months - adding the new ERA5 reanalysis as a data source, and creating national and sub-national aggregated wind and PV simulations for the whole world. We've been working on this for more than a year, but hopefully the end is in sight!
